Master the essential principles and applications of Earned Value Management (EVM) to effectively track, report, and control project performance. This course introduces project professionals to the theory and practice of EVM, helping you understand its core concepts and apply them in real-world project environments.
Through comprehensive lessons, you will explore topics such as Planned Value (PV), Budget at Completion (BAC), Actual Cost (AC), Earned Value (EV), Schedule and Cost Variance (SV, CV), Performance Indices (SPI, CPI), forecasting methods like Estimate to Complete (ETC) and Estimate at Completion (EAC), and advanced tools such as To-Complete Performance Index (TCPI) and Earned Value reports.
The training aligns with the Practice Standard for Earned Value Management by the Project Management Institute (PMI), ensuring you gain industry-recognized knowledge. Whether you are a project manager, planner, controls engineer, or a novice entering project management, this course will provide you with the tools to evaluate project performance, forecast outcomes, and make data-driven decisions.
This course provides comprehensive training in Earned Value Management (EVM), a proven project performance measurement technique used to track cost, schedule, and progress. It teaches how to integrate scope, budget, and timelines to assess whether a project is on track. Learners gain practical skills in calculating EVM metrics, interpreting results, and using EVM to support decision-making and project control.
The course is ideal for project managers, project coordinators, engineers, analysts, PMO staff, construction professionals, IT and software project teams, government contractors, and anyone involved in planning or monitoring project performance. It is suitable for both beginners and intermediate professionals seeking stronger project control and reporting skills.
Participants will learn how to build work breakdown structures (WBS), create baselines, calculate essential EVM metrics (EV, PV, AC, CPI, SPI, ETC, EAC), analyze cost and schedule variances, forecast project outcomes, and generate EVM dashboards. The course also teaches practical reporting, variance interpretation, and how to use EVM to make informed corrective actions.
Learners will explore core EVM principles, project baselining, performance measurement, cost control techniques, and forecasting models. The course may include tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Project Libre, Excel-based EVM templates, and project dashboards. Techniques for real-world application, compliance standards, and reporting structures are also covered.
EVM is a highly valued skill in project-driven industries and is used by governments, engineering firms, construction companies, IT organizations, and international development agencies. Completing this course enhances your ability to track and control projects, reduces financial and schedule risks, and strengthens your qualifications for leadership roles. It also aligns with globally recognized project management standards such as PMI’s PMBOK.
